Scaverous: Part 2

I’ve had a few games with Scaverous now, and my build isn’t doing anything I need. I’ve won a bit and lost some more, but crucially the build isn’t actually doing anything special. Today I got violated by Rahn again, and despite both players doing their best to enable a last ditch assassination (Husum is a TK master, and it was clear he had already won) I had nowhere near enough models left to actually pull it off.

In addition I pointlessly lost the Deathjack AGAIN, and even with the amazing out-of-sequence TK shenanigans he just isn’t worth it for me. In our post game discussion I lamented the fact that Rahn is now a pretty solid Cryx drop, because our all stealth lists are pretty much non-existent these days, having been reduced in effectiveness by new releases and changes in the meta. That’s when I suddenly thought of my old External Synergy article, and thought… I don’t see many anti-stealth lists these days either.

Lord Exhumator Scaverous
– Deathripper
– Deathripper
Bane Thralls (Leader and 9 Grunts)
– Bane Thrall Officer & Standard
Croe’s Cutthroats (Croe and 9 Grunts)
Aiakos, Scourge of Meredius
– Stalker
Bane Lord Tartarus
Skarlock Thrall
Warwitch Siren
Warwitch Siren
Wrong Eye & Snapjaw

Time to go old school baby, yeah! I’m torn between the Stalker and Darragh Wrathe, but for a couple of games I’ll be trying for more Stealth instead of the obviously better model. There is a grand total of four models in the entire list that you can shoot at if you don’t ignore stealth, and two of them (Warcaster & Skarlock) are back line models, while the other two are DEF 15 Arc Nodes that like to hang out in cover/concealment/elevation.

Now the list obviously won’t be dropping into Cygnar and Legion, but that’s what Deneghra3 is for anyway, which leaves my setup with only one real weakness (plenty of bad matchups, but only one really unwinnable one) which is Zerkova2. I guess I’ll just have to throw Deneghra3 into Zerkova2 and hope I can engineer a Helldiver assassination against all odds, or just pray she never gains in popularity.

I’ll give it a spin or two and report back on the great success, or spectacular failure, of the old school style stealth list.
