Un-Mothballing: 8

With the announcement of Active Duty Roster – season 3 – I find myself reaching for Skarre2 again. I’ve had mixed results with her so far, winning most of my games but losing some very important ones to a combination of dice, stupidity, and a lack of knowledge. I’ve done some more reading on her spells and abilities, but there’s no substitute for in-game experience, so I’m going to give her some more games while I wait for Deneghra3 to arrive (sorry Scaverous, still not your year).

Ten days since shipping

The last time I used Satyxis Raiders was back in May so they need some table-time again, and I’ve decided to try out Erebus with Skarre2. The combination of Black Spot and Perdition should allow him to get in there and pack-man quite a few models, while DEF 14 / ARM 20 with Death Ward could come in handy. It probably won’t work, but if there’s even a slight chance of Erebus being worth something again I’ll try it.

The Reaper is a rare sight in my lists as well, but since I don’t get along with Nightmare I thought I might try a cheaper version to throw away for a while. Gorman will have his first outing since the nerf, but he’s still a pretty darn good solo, and the accuracy/damage buff is always welcome.

Still no healing and I like it that way… well I don’t, but I haven’t had one single game so far where healing her would have changed anything, so I feel like I’m playing two points down when that Necrosurgeon tags along, and without Mechanithralls all she does is run around after Skarre.

  1. Love me some eSkarre + Erebus. I wrote something up on that combo a while back over on MidnightCarnival’s site, but I remember enjoying the combination with DJ and an Inflictor (casual proxy games) as the battlegroup.

    As I had Riders in the list (Death Ward for ARM 20) I got to play around with Admonition on Erebus, which was definitely annoying to deal with in combination with Poltergeist, making him pretty slippery. Plus as you said, Black Spot + Overtake… mmm.

    Finally, if you ever find a spare point in that list, I find the Defiler excellent under her. RAT 7 and twin sprays under Black Spot is just lovely, and it keeps the node useful even on turns where he won’t be arcing much.
