Lund Emancipation: Ready!

I am now officially ready for the tournament in Lund. I only got in three test games with my Skarre1 list, but all things considering I’m happy with my setup, and I’m confident I won’t fail completely against the Swedes (Hubris I know). I’ve also begun a project I hope to finish before the weekend, which is to mark unit leaders with a different back arc color, to make them easier for me to keep track of on the table.

Mechanithralls on the march!

I’m looking forward to seeing my entire army on the table as well, since I’ve been playing with proxies and unpainted models for the last two months, but thanks to Neldar I now get to field the Bane Riders in their first official tournament this weekend, and there shall be many faces wrecked!

Pirate Queen Skarre
– Cankerworm
Bane Riders (Leader and 4 Grunts)
Blackbane’s Ghost Raiders (Leader and 9 Grunts)
Mechanithralls (Leader and 5 Grunts)
Necrosurgeon (Necrosurgeon & 3 Stitch Thralls)
Satyxis Blood Witches (Leader and 9 Grunts)
– Satyxis Blood Hag
Soulhunters (Leader and 4 Grunts)
Darragh Wrathe
Saxon Orrik
Skarlock Thrall

This list makes me all warm and fuzzy inside, as hordes of Incorporeal models swarm the opponent, backed up by the thunderous/murderous cavalry sealing the deal with a late game feat from Skarre1 (unless of course someone gives me a nice juicy feat round). This list is a serious melee bruiser list, which complements my elite Deneghra2 list very nicely.

Wraith Witch Deneghra
– Deathripper
– Deathripper
– Deathjack
Bane Rider (Leader and 4 Grunts)
Cylena Raefyll & Nyss Hunters (Cylena and 9 Grunts)
The Withershadow Combine
Pistol Wraith
Pistol Wraith
Skarlock Thrall
Warwitch Siren

The list itself is very unlike me, which I guess is why I like it so much, but featuring only 26 models it’s so far out of my comfort zone that the shores aren’t even visible any more. I’ve won more than I’ve lost with this list, but unlike my usual lists this one has very few auto win/loss matchups, making it a comfortable card to have on my hand during match-up phases, but not an ‘I win’ button like I’m used to having.

I’m not sure there’s wireless at the venue, but if there is I’ll keep you all updated on twitter, and maybe a video of me crying in the corner after getting beaten up by C. Wedding again (REVENGE SHALL BE MINE THOUGH!). Unfortunately the first three games will be played on Saturday, and we can’t leave home Friday due to real life issues, so we have to get up piss early which is like Lamoron Kryptonite.

With a little luck, I can sleep the entire trip away though, because for once I’m not the one driving our band of merry misfits around!

  1. You aren’t blocked from using unreleased models as this event? Bane Riders aren’t released until April 23rd.

  2. Glad to see my ninja-ing is paying off. Can’t wait for the updates.

  3. Did you get all the painting done on all the mcThralls you needed?

  4. I kept looking at the list thinking yuck so many models. Then I had an idea for a fun list.
    pSkarre
    Inflictor
    Aikos – reaper
    Bane riders max
    Black banes max
    Mech thralls max
    Brute thralls 3
    Necrosurgeon x2
    WWS
    Saxon

I think thst was all of it… just for some fun

  5. Lamoron,
I still can’t believe you are using McThralls!

    • Well usually when people mention Mechanithralls I go…

In this case though, it’s a three point investment with the best Cryx caster to run them, and stupid stubbornness has to have it’s limits :D

  6. On the first day the Skarre1 list completely rolled two semi rookies, giving away just 16 army points in two games (4 & 12), and no control points.

  7. Well, at least I got to kill the bane riders! :)

  8. I might have to steal some of your pSkarre list. I like it a lot, and I’ve always been a bit irritated about the fact that I never get to use my soulhunters. Seems like pSkarre is pretty much the best caster for running them in several ways. I’ve been thinking a lot about the Blackbanes + Blood Witches combination as well. It’s a wicked tactic that usually is very good at overwhelming most armies. Trying to kill that many incorporeal models should leave most of the remaining forces alive since most armies don’t have the capabilities to handle it.

Now I hate net decking (that’s my stubbornness kicking in right there ^^) but I doubt I can make any alterations to the list to make it any better/make it more my style, but I’ll have to put some more thought into that.

I am a bit in love with the idea about Kraken the unwinsable killing machine, but I’m not sure I can fit in all the other stuff that I like then. Decisions decisions….

    • On a side note. Isn’t it hard to keep so many models inside skarres 12″ bubble of “I’m going to hit you in the face”? Have only played her a couple of times, so I’m not really too sure about how to utilize Dark Guidance while keeping skarre safe. Also the list is really fast, which makes me wonder if she can keep up while still casting spells every now and then?

      I guess it’s not really a problem, I’m just curious :)

      • Skarre1 is all about ‘the round’, so it’s not that difficult to keep the relevant models in her control area when you need to. The cavalry has reach on their important attacks, and with their large bases you can have Skarre about 16″ from their target.

The little guys often end up being out of her control area, unless it’s the specific little guys that actually need the buff on the important round. Sure its something to keep in mind, but I’ve had no problems so far… the list is hyper aggressive and Skarre is often across the center line when the game ends.

        • Do you feel that the list lacks weapon masters, or is it all made up by everything else hitting really hard on the round?

I really think your list has a lot of the really cool stuff, and it’s so nice to be able to use the soulhunters. Using Cankerworm for the insane AP attack is also great. A truly awesome idea actually ^^ A fully boosted POW 16 AP attack should hurt most things quite bad :)

Does Darragh Wrathe mostly use Beyond Death for protecting Skarre, or does he Deathride the troops?

          • Mostly Beyond Death.

I’ve had no problems cracking ARM so far, because the Mechanithralls come in and mop up what’s left with those PS 15 combo strikes if needed.

Funny thing is Mechanithralls on feat round with Beyond Death up… effective ARM 19 ftw.
