Battle of the Heath (prep)

This weekend there’s a tournament going on in a city called Herning. It’s called the Battle of the Heath (translated of course) and it’s a bit of an oddity.

It’s a huge Warhammer & Warhammer 40.000 tournament, with an itty bitty Warmachine tournament slapped on for good measure.

Under the weather

Today will not feature a full battle report, because I have trouble keeping my eyes open and details elude me.

Spotlight: Stinger

The Stinger is the king of the Spawning Vessel, and spawning one on the first turn using Bone Grinders makes it a serious player in the early game. I find it to be just the kind of problem solver I love.

Self-defeating Miniature Wargaming Disorder

Back in the days of Warhammer 40.000 I had a friend and regular opponent with SMWD. Thomas was intelligent, tactically sound, knew his way around list construction, and should by all rights have been a dangerous opponent, but games against him would always go like this.

Prophet of Everblight: 1

I need to build a second list for the coming tournament, and pThagrosh has intrigued me for a while, so while I have nowhere near the experience I need with pVayl I’ll have to get in a game with the man.

Vayl, Disciple of Everblight: 2

Last night I faced up against Peter and his pet bitch Saeryn. I’ve been up against Saeryn a couple of times before and it’s always some hard games, but this time I had Legion as well!

Vayl, Disciple of Everblight: 1

I had a good look at the table and having no instinctive feel for my army I became cautious and that’s never a good idea. It’s a rookie mistake and I see people doing it all the time, but not knowing the limits of a list usually makes players hand over the initiative, and so I did.

Feldherr Figure Cases

I borrowed a friends Feldherr bag to transport my minis to England for the European Team Challenge and I was very impressed with it. Since then I’ve been looking for an excuse to buy one because they’re a bit pricey, but the missus decided on giving me one for my birthday.

We are Legion!

There’s an invasion going on right now, as a host of new Legion players are taking the field. An interesting side effect is, that I got to see how my list performed even before fielding it, as one of the other new Legion players used it with some minor cosmetic changes.

Throwing in the towel

Last night was the end of my Circle project. I don’t think I’ve ever been so violated by dice, and my opponents dice were on fire, but that’s not why I’m throwing in the towel. I’m surrendering because I don’t like the ‘way’ I’m losing, and that might require some explanations.
