I think Cygnar might have gone on the offensive because all my games these days are against the blue bit… ladies… Tonight I got a game in against a third Cygnar player and I brought out Terminus since the ETC is not that far away now. I find my games against Cygnar are generally harder than they should be when I look at the lists so I guess there’s only one way forward: Practice.

I’ve never been up against pHaley before and her spell list looks almost as crazy as eHaley, but her feat seemed more manageable since it simply inflicts massive damage and my Terminus list doesn’t really care about massive damage anyway. I was worried about her 16″ control area of “no run or charge” but the list lacked anything with punch enough to reliably take down Terminus so all I had to do was avoid losing on scenario. I brought the Satyxis Raiders to try the list with a fast attack element that applies pressure from the first round but the Abomination issue had me worried from the beginning.
Terminus 1: I won first turn and threw the Raiders up to die. pHaley has a spell that reduces defense within 16″ of her by two so the Gun Mages would be hitting the Satyxis Raiders on 7+ so I kissed them farewell and planned ahead. I moved up the Satyxis only ten inches (a grand total of 16″ with AD) to force the Gun Mages a bit farther up the field than they might have liked, and ran up everything to engage on round two despite the Temporal Barrier.
pHaley 1: He ran up most of his army farther than I expected and the Gun Mages took down just half the Satyxis Raiders, but got the Sea Witch due to a flawed calculation on distance and threat range on my part (adding up two numbers is hard you know!). The Cyclone blocked my advance and the Precursors ran up to block anything that got through. Then he miscalculated and Terminus was out the Temporal Acceleration effect which made being a precursor knight a poor career choice.
Terminus 2: I don’t think he saw it coming when Terminus charged the Precursors and popped feat. My army did it’s best to harvest the souls he needed and at armor 29 I was sure he was safe even camped between the armies with nothing to shield him. This was something I couldn’t have tried if Eiryss had been there but since she was absent the Freight Train kept rolling. I knew I was going to lose most of my army to his feat turn but I pushed him way back with the aggressive Terminus and he couldn’t avoid me with everything.
pHaley 2: All hail Bane Thralls! The guys were shot, stabbed, blown up, and then shot some more but the full might of the pHaley ranged game brought down just 6/12 members and left the standard alive. Everything I had was shot or stabbed but the list did what it does best and withstood the storm without flinching. At that point the game was over but I got my turn because he stood a chance at winning on scenario.
Terminus 3: Tartarus threshers a member of the B13 and they fail the terror check. Terminus then destroys both his heavy warjacks, camps at armor 25, and looks at a Cygnar list with nothing left that can put a serious dent in him. Bile Thralls clear out the zone and my opponent is left with some Gun Mages, a little support, a banged up Charger and pHaley.
pHaley 3: After a bit of shuffling he tries to boot Darragh Wrathe and the Cankerworm to the face and claim another point but fails. He looks at the situation and surrenders, and while I don’t ever encourage anyone to quit he was out of options and continuing the game would be pointless (especially since B13 failed their morale again… whimps).
The list worked well enough but I kept having to dance around the Abomination business. It was funny having an eleven inch threat while walking in with the Raiders but I think I’ll try something else next time.
